backZoo "Hellabrunn"
Munich’s zoo “Hellabrunn” is known far beyond Germany’s borders. Situated in the south of Bavaria’s capital on the river Isar, the park with its 36 hectares houses about 8,000 vertebrates from all over the world, in conditions as close to their natural environment as possible. The zoo’s highlights are the historical elephant house inaugurated in 1914, home to elephants and giraffes, the ape house with tropical jungle, the open-air aviary and the jungle house with tropical forest landscape for lions, jaguars and the like. Favourites among the children are the petting zoo, and the big outdoor fun area with adventure playground, pony riding and more.
